About us

An independent record of the lights going out

PowerTrack Gambia exists because nobody was keeping a public, verifiable record of electricity outages in The Gambia.

What we do

We record when the power goes off and when it comes back in each monitored area, using a network of verified volunteers called Power Watchers. We then publish consolidated, checkable results: availability, outage counts, durations and a reliability score.

What we stand for

  • Accuracy — if we are not sure, we say so.
  • Transparency — our method and assumptions are public.
  • Verification — two independent reports before anything is published.
  • Neutrality — no party, no campaign, no slogans.
  • Traceability — every number can be traced to a record.
  • Consistency — the same rules everywhere, every day.

What we are not

We are not the national utility and we do not speak for it. We are not a political movement. We do not claim to describe the entire country — only the areas we monitor.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct it and mark the record as adjusted, with a reason. Adjusted records are always flagged in our data.
